The Reason Kim Kardashian’s Robbers Will Struggle To Sell Her $4 Million Ring

What can you do with such a high profile diamond, after you have stolen it from one of the world's most recognisable personalities? Not very much, it seems.

The multi-million dollar diamond that adorned nearly half of Kim Kardashian’s finger (that image above) will find its way back to her, but only if the thieves who took it make a really stupid move – which I highly doubt will happen.

After her ring was taken from her in the early hours of Sunday morning, while she was staying in the Hotel de Pourtales in Paris, Kim filed a police report that included the diamond’s inscription number and other markers that will raise flags if sold to someone who cares.

According to the Gemological Institute of America, diamonds have a microscopic number laser-inscripted on the girdle of the stone. If a stolen diamond matching this pops up for a cleaning, grading or possible sale, police will be notified.

Like, for example, Forevermark diamonds.

As the name suggests, each diamond has a unique inscription number invisible to the naked eye. Check:

Forevermark diamonds come with a three-fold promise: that the diamond is beautiful, rare, and responsibly sourced (AKA no blood diamonds here).

If you happen to be in the market for one of these bad boys, Diamond Jewellers International, our first choice for jewellery in Cape Town, stock them – and you’ll end up paying 50% less than most retailers for the best diamonds in the world.
