Perhaps you, like many South Africans, are tired of hearing about Die Antwoord.
They used a culture barely theirs to propel themselves into the world beyond ours and now they are sitting pretty, hanging on celebs and living with an array of pets in a compound in California.
The zef duo have just released their fourth studio album, Mount Ninji and Da Nice Time Kid, and they also released a video of one of the first performances they ever did as “Die Fokken Antwoord”.
It was 2009 and they were performing at Klein Libertas Theatre in Stellies. Perhaps you, like many others, were there.
Close friend of theirs, Sean Wilson-Smith, filmed what he could of the evening and edited the footage into a short doccie.
With a voice over from Ninja himself, it’s easy to see just what kind of night it would have been.
The video is the latest instalment of Highsnobiety TV’s series, like this one about Skateisan featuring Tony Hawk.
Seems they are digging the South African vibes at the moment. Aweh!
