Here’s one story you should print out and leave next to your stash, in case someone with judging eyes catches you out.
A new study ‘suggests’ that peeps who smoke marijuana daily ‘might’ be slimmer than those who don’t, which sounds like some kind of half-baked stoner study that wasn’t really all that definitive.
Those behind the study found that people ‘who used marijuana daily had about a 3 percent lower BMI (body mass index), on average, than those who did not use marijuana at all’.
Over to Mashable with the evidence, which is a little more compelling:
In the study, the researchers looked at more than 13,000 adults ages 18 to 26. The researchers collected body measurements to calculate the participants’ BMIs, and tested the participants for marijuana use. Six years later, when the participants were between ages 24 and 32, the researchers looked again at their marijuana use and BMIs.
The researchers found that the BMIs of women who smoked marijuana daily during the study were 3.1 percent lower than the BMIs of women who did not smoke marijuana daily during the study period. And the BMIs of men who smoked marijuana daily were 2.7 percent lower than the BMIs of those who did not smoke marijuana…
Stoked – smoke weed ‘erry day, son.
But what do the scientists say is the reasoning behind their findings?
…previous research has suggested that people who use marijuana regularly may break down blood sugar more quickly, which, in turn, may help to prevent weight gain, the researchers said.
Once again, sugar is the real devil here.
Toke it up, just watch what you’re munching on in the hours that follow.
