You may have heard that two bombs went off in close range of each other on Saturday, sending shock waves through the States.
You can watch the moment the bomb went off in New York HERE.
To make matters worse, no one really knows what’s going, so we are going to give you a little breakdown of what information there is out there.
Here’s what they don’t yet know:
Here’s what they do know:
• The location of the explosion (20:30 on Saturday, Chelsea neighbourhood, Manhattan) and the second device found in New York:
Up to five devices in a package were found in New Jersey early this morning, the same area a bomb went off on Saturday before a Marine charity run, hours before the blast in Manhattan.
These are the locations of the Jersey bombs, Seaside Park being the site of the pipe bomb blast:
• The explosion that went off in New York injured 29 people, with the 26 admitted all later released from hospital. The other bomb caused no injuries. Five suspects were arrested, but nothing has come out of it.
• The only lead the police have for the investigation is surveillance footage showing the same man appear near the location of both devices.
• The two bombs in the New York area were pressure cooker bombs, while the ones in New Jersey were both sets of pipe bombs.
• While no connection has yet to be made between the two bombings, police are treating them as the same case for now.
• New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has called it an “intentional act” although “there’s no specific and credible threat against New York City at this time from any terror organisation.”
• Hillary Clinton said in a statement:
I don’t think we know and I think it would not be appropriate to speculate until we do know. Let’s try to figure out as much as we can by having the experts, professionals, go through this try to determine what you have to in order to trace it back and then see who’s behind it.
• Donald Trump’s response during a rally in Colorado:
I must tell you that just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows exactly what’s going on. But boy, we are living in a time—we better get very tough, folks.
