If ever you wanted proof that being punched and kicked in the head will eventually result in long term damage, look no further than local EFC fighter Danie ‘Pitbull’ van Heerden.
As he geared up to fight Zimbabwean opponent Elvis Moyo at this weekend’s EFC 54 in Sun City, he took to social media to up the ante.
We’re all used to seeing those simulated pre-fight weigh-in fights, but can someone tell me what Danie was thinking when he posted this to Facebook?
Absolute f*cking moron – I bet his sponsors loved all the hashtags with their names in.
Side note to his sponsors – drop this idiot and drop him fast, your money would be better spent (literally) anywhere else.
As you can imagine Elvis wasn’t all that impressed with Danie’s post:
That right there, Elvis, is how you shut down a bumbling racist buffoon.

Thankfully the EFC didn’t think that was punishment enough, with this below from EWN:
EFC acted quickly in punishing the fighter, with President Cairo Howarth saying: “The EFC will not tolerate any form of racism by our athletes. What Danie van Heerden posted was completely unacceptable and we have taken the course of action to strip him of his title so Danie is no longer facing Elvis for the heavyweight title, he is no longer the heavyweight champion and he has been suspended from the organisation.”
An official disciplinary hearing will be held with van Heerden and the sanctioning body, MMA SA.
I would ask if this guy has ever read the news and heard about Penny Sparrow, but that would have cut into his crayon-fuelled colouring in time.
I have nothing against EFC – if two grown men want to kick and punch each other’s heads in who are we to stop them – but this really isn’t a good look for the organisation.
