Somewhere out there, in a far flung corner of the world where no one ever goes, lives a collection of some of history’s finest musicians.

Elvis with his fat mutton chop sideburns, Tupac with his doekie, Kurt Cobain staring into the distance pensively – all three surrounded by a sea of odd socks that have mysteriously disappeared from houses around the world.

But then Kurt decides he has had enough of the anonymity, breaking his silence to appear on Peruvian talent show Yo Soy.

The video was actually filmed back in 2012, with a chap called Ramiro Saavedra purported to be the performer, but has been widely circulated the past few days:

Fans of Cobain might note that the performer in the above video plays with his right hand, whereas Kurt played with his left, or that he doesn’t really look that much like one of the famous members of the ’27 club’.

Anyway Nirvana thought it worthwhile to take the piss on Facebook, posting this:

It is true, Kurt is alive. He needed time to learn to play the guitar with his right hand. Finding left-handed guitars is not easy.

We are so happy to have him back and forgive him for all of the sadness that we have held so deeply in our hearts.

Sorry Kurt fans, looks like that dream is over.
