Well, what do you know?
The National Treasury has today confirmed that JZ has paid them for the non-security upgrades to his private Nkandla residence.
This is in accordance with the court issue ordered in March, the date having slipped by somewhat unnoticed by many in light of the recent ANC election disaster.
Here’s EWN:
“We can confirm as the National Treasury that the payment has been received,” a spokeswoman for the Treasury said.
In June, the Treasury said that Zuma should pay R7.8 million for the non-security upgrades, after the Constitutional Court in March ordered Zuma to pay back some of the estimated R250 million of state money spent upgrading his private home.
I’m sure coming up with that money wasn’t all too difficult, given the wealth of some of his closes ‘friends’.
Don’t feel too sorry for our president, he’s still coming out of this whole ordeal with his pockets well lined (HERE).
