I still struggle to understand how normal-sized aircrafts miraculously take to the skies and ferry us around the world, so this beast is really forcing the cogs upstairs to grind into action.
The world’s largest cargo plane is called the Antonov AN-255, and it’s a pretty extraordinary piece of work.
This from the Telegraph:
The gigantic cargo craft was originally developed by the Antonov Design Bureau in the 1980s to transport the Buran spacecraft. The longest and heaviest aeroplane ever built, the Antonov AN-255 holds the world record for an airlifted single payload of 189,980 kilos and has twice the wing area of a Boeing 747.
Seriously, look at this wingspan:
Anyone else think it looks like an oversized pelican taking flight?
Now for a video of the beast in action, and a chance to brush up on your Ukrainian:
I’m not fussed how my precious cargo arrives at the desired destination, as long as it touches down at the right time and in one piece. That’s why we use Berry & Donaldson, who will handle each and every step of your freight needs like a boss.
We told you about the importance of such a service HERE, something Seth has learnt along the way, so if you’re involved in the import / export game you really should talk to the best in the biz.
