The scene looks something like this:
One of the world’s most famous superyachts cruises down the Thames. As it hits the docks in London, it moors up alongside a historic British warship.
The superyacht, named Motor Yacht A, is owned by none other than Russian Andrey Melnichenko, listed by Forbes as one of Europe’s youngest billionaires with a fortune sitting at around $11.4bn (R159,32bn).
Okay, okay, here are the pics of the yacht’s arrival:
Pretty epic, hey? Well, not as epic as its interiors and features.
The superyacht is valued at about $300 million (R4.2 billion), and has been spotted frolicking in the playgrounds of the rich and famous over the past few years. Its distinctive feature is its upside down hull – as well as:
- three swimming pools that create currents to swim against, with a glass roof looking up into one of the pools
- a helipad
- a master suite encased in bomb-proof 44mm glass
- accommodate 14 guests and up to 37 crew
- a wellness room
The yacht was named “A” in order to make the vessel appear first on shipping registries. Here’s some pics of its interior:
In case you were wondering, the woman posing in the photographs is Andrey’s wife. Married in 2005, the couple have one child and a purebred Maltese dog called Vala – who accompanies them everywhere.
Oh, the lives of the rich and famous:
