Yo B-Rack, the Obamanator, what’s cracking homeslice?
Hey, Vladimir Putin-a-smile-on-my-face, gosh darn it’s been too long.
That’s how the meeting between Vladimir and Barack did not go, because one look at the picture in question and it’s clear things are a little tense.
The two leaders met at the G20 summit in China (the same one JZ jetted off to), and let’s first take a look at the picture that sparked all the headlines:
Yoh, frosty.
Here’s the NY Post with more details:
Following the informal, 90-minute sidelines meeting in the city of Hangzhou, Obama revealed that he and the Russian president talked about how they could reach “a meaningful, serious, verifiable cessation of hostilities in Syria” and about Ukraine, which Russia invaded in 2014.
But even though Obama described their chat as “candid, blunt and businesslike,” he acknowledged it didn’t yield a breakthrough.
“Given the gaps of trust that exist, that’s a tough negotiation,” Obama said after the meeting. “We haven’t yet closed the gaps.”
The commander in chief suggested that the United States has concerns about whether Russia would hold up its end of an agreement, if one is reached.
And what about comments from the Russian camp? Typically understated:
“The meeting was longer than expected,” the spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said…
Asked about the tone of the meeting, he said, “It went well. Work will continue.”
If this were a Rocky movie, it might end something like this…
