Murder accused Jason Rohde requested that an independent forensic pathologist take a look his deceased wife’s body – but the results might not work in his favour.
A reliable source told Netwerk24 that Dr Reggie Perumal performed the autopsy, with his report indicating that Susan had suffered pulmonary oedema, or fluid accumulation in the lungs.
While this was typical of people who suffered heart failure, it was also typical of people who had suffocated.
According to the report, Susan’s heart was healthy.
But the report contained other information, too, like the fact that there were many injuries on her body that were both old and in the process of healing. Injuries included:
A bruise of 26cm x 16cm on her right thigh and another one of 7.5cm x 4.8cm on her left thigh. There were also “many healing bruises on her lower limbs”.
There were many new injuries on her neck, left shoulder, left side of her brow, below and behind her right ear, on a finger and knuckle of her left hand, left wrist, left forearm and a toe on her left foot, as well as on her neck, jaw and chin.
There was also a deep new bruise on her tongue.
Ribs 2 to 5 on her left side, ribs 3 to 6 on her right side, and part of her breast bone were also broken.
Jason was arrested last month and will appear in court again on 23 September. Until then, he must remain in the Western Cape.
Reporting to Melkbosstrand police station three times a week, he will live in a secret location.
According to Susan’s friends, who spoke out to the media after her death went from being a suicide to a murder case, she was a warm, caring person who will be sorely missed by the community.
More than 1 000 people attended Susan’s funeral, which had pink roses to honour the glamorous woman. Read more about that HERE.
