So I was pickpocketed on Saturday morning while shopping in Woolworths, Paarl.
Yay, go me.
It happened while I was perusing the underwear section. Two women got really close, pretending to take some underwear in front of me, and a few minutes later I realised it was actually my phone they were shopping for.
I immediately thought of videos like this that show unsuspecting victims getting robbed in unlikely places.
Happening over in O.R. Tambo, South Africa’s biggest international airport, a man was brazenly robbed while being attended to at a car rental agency. Bleak, the guy was nearly out of there.
The CCTV footage shows a man loitering around the service counter, then going forward and grabbing an unattended bag. He even has an accomplice.
It all happens so quickly, so casually.
I just feel sick thinking about it.
Best pay attention if you’re flying out of or into Jozi folks, they aren’t mucking around.
