You want to see what the SABC would be like if left in the hands of Hlaudi Motsoeneng?
Much like Uncle Bob Mugabe to the north, China are quite fond of blaming anything and everything on the wicked western world. They’ve really stepped up their assault this past week, and video seems to be the medium of choice to drum home the point.
Here’s TIME with a little more on the recent spate:
It might be tempting to dismiss these videos as ham-fisted propaganda doled out by an out-of-touch Chinese Communist Party. But that is to misread their aim. These videos are not designed for Western consumption, with the exception of the Times Square video. They are meant for a domestic Chinese audience, one whose growing sense of patriotism proves that decades of propaganda have worked very well.
“The Chinese Communist Party puts great emphasis on so-called ‘thought work’ from a very young age,” says Feng Chongyi, an expert in Chinese intellectual and political development at the University of Technology Sydney. “They have established this very strong nationalistic narrative and even if Chinese go overseas and can access other information, many still choose to believe in the state propaganda that they have been socialized [sic] in since kindergarten.”
That’s the scary thing about an efficient propaganda campaign – that even when confronted with contradictory information, citizens often refuse to go against the grain.

The production value could do with a little brushing up, but I think the message is pretty clear.
