Back in 2012 at the London Olympics, even as he plunged into the pool for the 200 metre butterfly final, Chad le Clos was a relative unknown. Fast forward about two minutes, and South Africa had a new sporting hero.
Then there was THAT interview with his father, where he used ‘unbelievable’ more times than Hugh Bladen in the final five minutes of a tight Bok encounter.
Chad returned home to much fanfare, and ever since then he has continued to fly the South African flag. Now a new doccie ahead of the Olympics in Rio, aptly titled Unbelievable, is screening and it makes for pretty good watching.
More from the South African:
However, while Chad was cementing his place at the top of his sport and in the hearts of the public, behind the scenes he was dealing with new pressures as first Bert developed prostate cancer and then his mother Geraldine saw her breast cancer return. With stories and opinion from family close friends, swimming legends Milo Cavic, Rowdy Gaines and Roland Schoeman, HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco, cricketer Dale Steyn and the BBC’s Clare Balding, UNBELIEVABLE is a gripping tale of one man’s mission to achieve his Olympic dream. It also affords an intimate insight into the world of Bert– who has become one of world sport’s most popular characters.
Be sure to give this a proper watch when you have the time, like right now as you pretend to look busy at your desk.
