I had never heard of Baton Rouge before last week’s incident of a photograph capturing the moment riot police arrested a peaceful Black Lives Matter protester.
But now, for the second time in less than a week, the capital of Louisiana has made headlines again, and this time due to Gavin Long. After cops responded to a call of a man with a rifle, Long opened fire in the city, killing three cops and wounding three others.
You can read all about the incident, and the man, HERE.
While investigating Long, reporters have discovered that he has two Youtube accounts, one under the name “Cosmos Setepenra” and the other called “I am Cosmo” – although it has been deactivated. On both platforms, Long uploaded videos of himself talking about various topics, including telling listeners to “fight back” against police. He also frequently used the term “Alpha Preneur”.
He recorded a video shortly after the Dallas mass cop killings. In the recording – watch below – Long captured himself saying:
You gotta fight back. That’s the only way a bully knows to quit. He doesn’t know words. He can’t understand words, I promise you. He doesn’t understand protests. If y’all want to keep protesting, do that. But for the serious ones, the real ones, the alpha ones, we know what it’s going to take.
In other videos Long speaks about overcoming fear, how suffering pain and disappointment is legitimate, and working towards “embracing struggle.”
Here are just two:
On his Twitter account, Long described himself as follows:
Freedom Strategist . Radio Host. Mental Game Coach . Alpha Preneur . Author . World Explorer . Former Marine. ▲☥Ethiopian Bloodline☥▲
These are just two tweets he recently sent after the Dallas shooting:
This is a similar kind of mentality that creates a following of extremists, just like IS.
Perpetual systematic disregard for those the government has forgotten about – or violently targeted, is giving away not only to violent extremists such as Long, but popular politics such as Donald Trump, Brexit, and the EFF.
Go figure.
