Part of the joy of heading somewhere like the Kruger is supposed to be that feeling of unwinding, letting go of the stress that comes with everyday life.

That being said Kruger has always been a dog show during the school holiday period, with congestion on the roads and traffic jams becoming increasingly common, and behaviour like this only adds to those frustrations.

The hasty driver is seen racing past two other cars at a turn-off, right into a herd of elephants crossing the road.

The Fortuner slows down to allow a big elephant to cross the road, and then speeds on. But, as it speeds up, it seems as if the driver doesn’t see another, younger elephant emerging from a bush to cross the road.

Sounds that are earlier the vehicle’s ABS brakes, or the elephant’s trumpeting, are audible on the footage.

Much of the anger stemming from incidents like these is directed at the wildlife spotting apps (HERE), where people are so eager to arrive at a sighting that they drive recklessly in order to get there.

This car is zooming straight through a herd of elephants, and if that doesn’t tickle their fancy you’d expect them to at least not ruin it for everyone else.

SANParks have announced that they are looking into ways to discourage the use of these apps, and thus behaviour like this, but for the mean time if you’re in the park show a little decency to your fellow visitors.
