Tom Brady was already hated by many American men for marrying Gisele Bundchen and being really, really good at American Football.

Then ‘Deflategate’ happened, which I understand might need a little unpacking for those not familiar with the NFL.

Tom’s team, the New England Patriots, were playing the Indianapolis Colts in a rather important match. The Patriots triumphed, but it later emerged that they had tampered with the balls their team used – making them easier to grip and catch in the cold, rainy conditions.

Brady was suspended for four games, which was then overturned, then reinstated, and is now under appeal.

It’s obviously a sore spot for Ben Affleck, because he goes off on a serious rant during the first episode of Bill Simmons’ ‘Any Given Wednesday.’

Just to be clear he is saying that Tom Brady was NOT in the wrong, and the whole ‘Deflategate’ saga is just a smear campaign.
