Tennessee, the birthplace of some of America’s greatest music – and apparently its biggest racists, too.
You have Rick Tyler to thank for this one, a candidate now running for U.S. Congress. He’ll run under the Independents, because I assume even Republicans wouldn’t be daft enough to allow this kind of racism in their ranks.
Oh hang on, what about the Trumpster?
Anyway let’s see the billboard in all its glory:
I’ll save you a visit to that website. which is now down along with that billboard, and give you this from Gawker:
His website features an image of the White House flying Confederate Flags alongside the text “I Have a Dream,” and links to blog posts with titles like “The Browning of America,” “White Birthright and Non-White Privilege,” and “Martin Luther King…Saint or Sinner?”
…Other billboard ideas proposed on Tyler’s campaign site include ““Fight federal tyranny / Stop the Muslim invasion,” and “Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be miscegenators.” Catchy!
Thankfully he has zero chance of winning, but isn’t it scary that this is an angle someone thinks might help them achieve political success?
Let’s hear from the tool himself – below from Huffington Post:
Tyler rejected the idea his sign was hateful…and said it was “deliberately designed to be provocative.”
“It was intended to elicit the idea in people’s minds of … what ‘Make America White Again’ could possibly mean. My quick response to that is the ‘Leave It to Beaver,’ ‘Ozzie and Harriet,’ ‘Mayberry’ America that I grew up in was a better America,” Tyler said, claiming that time had no “break-ins” or “Muslim sleeper cells,” had less immigration by people of color — and was so safe you could leave your doors unlocked.
Tyler expressed fondness for a time when there was an “85 percent super white majority.”
Well Tyler, may I suggest you check out Orania? Sounds like the kind of place you’d fit right in…
