Julius Malema is a busy man in the build up to August’s local government elections, so much so that if you want to grab a word you might have to do so on the road.
That was the tactic used by Financial Mail reporter Sam Mkokeli, who accompanied Julius as the EFF leader zoomed from one engagement to the next.
Some snippets of what Juju had to say courtesy of TimesLive:
Malema sets out his goal to supplant the DA as the official opposition ”soon” and, as he told our reporter Sam Mkokeli on the campaign trail for the August 3 local government elections, ”Ultimately, I want to be Number One”.
Malema, of course, does not mince his words in explaining why he is determined to topple the ANC, or what led to the souring of his relationship with Jacob Zuma – ”a Std 2 graduate who could have been a queue marshal at the taxi rank”.
He dismisses DA leader Mmusi Maimane, ”the priest”, as a puppet of white interests, yet does not rule out possible coalitions with the DA – but emphatically not the ANC – in hung councils.
Settle in and enjoy that interview below, shoddy sound quality and all.
