His name may have been splashed across newspapers and websites the world over for the best part of three years, but that doesn’t mean anyone has had the chance to sit down and interview the man himself.
Britain’s ITV are the lucky station then, which is probably because Oscar ain’t too keen on chatting with our local media.
The interview was conducted by investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas at Oscar’s uncle’s house in Pretoria, where he awaits his sentencing taking place this Monday.
Below from TimesLive:
The show will be aired in 24 June but a date for it to be shown locally has yet to be announced.
“In the documentary, Pistorius gives his account of what happened the night he killed his girlfriend and is questioned about key details of the prosecution case that resulted in his conviction. He also talks about his relationship with Reeva, the allegations of his previous abusive behaviour and his previous use of firearms,” read a statement by ITV.
ITV says it asked the Steenkamp family to take part, but they declined.
Another TimesLive article quotes uncle Arnold :
”Over the past three years we have been very judicious in our media engagement and commented only in situations where it was not possible to manage the weight of media inquiries in other ways.
“We have been deeply respectful of the legal process and mindful not to contribute to the media frenzy that has characterised this case,” the uncle said.
“Any proceeds will go to charities for children.”
That’s right guys, he’s doing it for the kids.
By the time the show airs over in the UK Oscar will know his fate, but that doesn’t mean the media frenzy will be any less.
It is rumoured that he discusses what happened that fateful evening, his relationship with Reeva and some key details of the prosecution’s case.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled and let you know when this one makes it onto the interwebs.
