In the past we’ve had some angry emails from Jozi folk, asking us why we insist on mocking the city and poking fun at those who live there.

We always say, in true Cape Town fashion, that they must take a few deep breaths and chill – it’s all in the name of having a laugh.

Then a movie comes along that really does make it too easy – a disaster movie called ‘Johannesburg’, you’re serving it to us on a platter.

But check it out, we’re going to take the higher ground on this one and just show you the poster sans judgement:

A film entitled Johannesburg, is being directed by Kalumbu Kapisa who is a SAFTA nominee including Uzalo telenovela’s director will be released next year…

The films narrates a story of the city being destroyed by devastating earth tremors and the race against time to save it from being swallowed into a massive sink hole.

Actress Booboo Mazibuko who recently got married and Desmond Dube are part of the cast set for the movie.

You know what’s a Jozi disaster – a shortage of ‘protes and oats’, the road to Hartbeespoort Dam being closed for the weekend, the two decent wedding venues in the city being booked on the date you’re after, that kind of thing.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

We will never forget the real Jozi disaster though…
