It’s not exactly a pleasant thought, but tell me I have one final meal to enjoy before I head to the big green pasture and I’m going pizza each and every day.
What about if you climbed atop Mount Kilimanjaro, all 5,897 metres of it – what meal would you go for then? A team from Pizza Hut scaled the beast and helped set a Guinness World Record at the same time, claiming the ‘Highest altitude pizza delivery on land’ record.
They went for the pepperoni (boring, spice it up), with this below from the official Guinness site:
It took four days for the pizza to travel from the new restaurant to the top of the highest mountain in Africa. The pizza traveled approximately 745 km from where it was made to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro by car, plane and on foot by Mr Consea Dissa and several members of his climbing team.
Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Pravin Patel flew out to Tanzania to verify the record attempt and ensure that all the guidelines were followed correctly.
If I’ve hiked to the top of a mountain almost six times as high as Table Mountain I’m going to want the cream of the crop. Perhaps a Rotherham, or if it’s all the cheese you’re after a nibble on the Big Cheese Blue.
Good pizza – I’m salivating at the thought of it.
A little video from the folks at Guinness put together then:
