It’s kind of cute that Great Britain is attempting to decrease corruption in the world’s worst countries, named unashamedly by David Cameron in front of the Queen just the other day. Their anti-corruption conference this week is just another example of the west trying to help those in need.
The latest list of corrupt countries in the world was put together by Transparency International, and lists them from Denmark at the top to Somalia and North Korea at the bottom.
Sure, South Africa’s awful corruption is leaking at the seams and it’s clear that in countries where corruption is most rife, inequality too is high – I mean, we’re a prime example and it’s so frustrating.
But while we’re sitting on par with Italy at 61 (in the red), we’re still doing okay. Hopefully our general governance will lift, but we need to start curbing corruption in the public sector. And that’s with every country. As Transparency International observes:
Not one single country, anywhere in the world, is corruption-free
