As a Newcastle fan, still hurting from last night’s confirmation that we have been relegated from the Premier League, I was kind of hoping I might have the day off from writing about football.
Alas it is not to be, although this one is more about the hooliganism that took place outside of West Ham’s Boleyn Ground than the action on the field itself.
As the club readied itself to play their final match at the stadium, bringing to an end a 112 year association, certain fans took it upon themselves to give Louis van Gaal’s men a less than warm welcome.
Here is the full video of what went down:
How about some footage from inside the bus itself, Jesse Lingard filming this below. Proof that footballers are a mature bunch…
West Ham’s bosses weren’t all that thrilled with the behaviour of their fans, with this from Sky News:
West Ham chief executive Baroness Brady has slammed “mindless” fans for attacking Manchester United’s team bus – and vowed the culprits will be banned for life…
[West Ham’s co-chairman David Sullivan said] “I want to apologise to Manchester United for that damage and assure them that we will be doing all we can to track down those responsible and ban them for life.”
Maybe if the players stopped behaving like massively overpaid spoilt brats that would trickle down to the fans?
Or maybe I’m just bitter about my team being so woefully inept – yeah, it could be the latter.
