Please Enjoy The Half A Billion Rand Home The Guptas Have Bought In Dubai

The Guptas have bought a lavish home over in their favourite city and, well, I'd like to know where they got the money from.

Upgrading from their Saxonwold home at a “value” of R58 million, the Guptas bought what was listed, at the time, as the most expensive house in Dubai, advertised as “awaiting a VVIP…with deep pockets”.

When villa L35, situated in UAE’s Emirates Hills, went on the market for R448 million last year, no one thought the Guptas would be moving across continents to settle in another world.

Oh, and they’re also building a R200 million Hindu temple in their Indian hometown.

The house is as lavish as one would imagine:

Decorated in marble and gold, and with 10 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, nine reception rooms, a double grand staircase, hand-painted dome, space for 11 cars, and chandeliers in virtually every room, the house is extravagant even by Dubai’s standards.

Elaborate gold crests bolted to both entrance gates bear the words “Gupta” and “Saharanpur” as well as the website address, www.singhala.com.

As far as the other names go, Saharanpur is the town in Uttar Pradesh, India, where the Gupta brothers Ajay, Atul and Rajesh grew up, and where they recently started construction on a Hindu temple that will cost more than R200 million.
