By now you will know who Matthew Theunissen is – you do know, the guy who went off on what can only be described as a vile racist rant that angered South Africans across the country.
Now you can listen to his interview on CapeTalk where he joined host John Maytham, the 26-year-old trying his utmost to get across his apology.
Pay attention to the traps he falls into, host Maytham calling him out on the classic ‘I have black friends’ line that we all knew was coming.
And shame, he can’t get a job because all the positions are being filled by people who don’t deserve to be there?
Check Twitter calling him out for it before he even went on air:
Let’s address the fact that he is 26 years old. It’s chumps like this that are ruining it for everyone – for someone born when he was, to have that language in his vocabulary is unacceptable.
It’s like how every now and again you cringe when a grandparent or elderly person says something that just doesn’t fly these days – you cringe, but then you remember that the attitude and outlook they possess will die out shortly and the rest of us can move on.
Or will it, because chumps like Matthew are ensuring that a culture of hate and vitriol continues to linger. How are we meant to convince the people of this country that we want to move forward as one when these rotten eggs taint everyone with their filthy brush?
What does someone do to clean up this mess? I don’t think it matters much really, it’s just embarrassing that someone of his age and education doesn’t realise that clicking ‘post’ would bring with it such intense ramifications.
