Just 15 months after winning £148million (R3 billion) the Bayfords got a divorce. Didn’t see that one coming.
Not long afterwards, Mr Bayford met a former horse groom 16 years his junior and the couple moved into his £6 million Grade-II listed country mansion.
Mrs Bayford, meanwhile, met Alan Warnock and spent some of her winnings on his Audi garage. She thought herself a lucky girl when he proposed.
Gillian Bayford has also had a fallout with her parents. After winning the lottery with her then husband in 2012, she apparently gave her family £20 million – but the family claims that she is lying and they only received £1 million.
Ugh shame. They claim she is a Jekyll and Hyde character and her life is now shrouded in lies.
The battle began after Mrs Bayford, 43, accused her brother Colin, 41, and parents Ian and Brenda McCulloch of becoming ‘downright nasty’ by constantly ‘flashing the cash’ which she gave them.
In her first interview since the win, she said. ‘The money was supposed to make everybody happy. But it’s made them demanding and greedy. They’ve been given money and houses and cars but still wanted more.’
Mrs Bayford claims her brother drives numerous Audis with personalised number plates and that her father Ian has become so accustomed to the wealthy lifestyle that he refuses to fly economy class on airplanes. He has enjoyed holidays in Canada, South Africa and Florida in the past year, she says.
She also said that her father tried to take control of the money she won and has repeatedly tried to claim a stake in her business.
And that’s just the beginning. While one side spews one set of lies, the other spews another and it all just seems very stressful and unnecessary. Read about the whole saga HERE.
It all sounds very silly – and it’s pretty obvious that the average person can show them just how to act around massive amounts of money. Enter AND win the $346 million Powerball draw tonight, receive the R5 billion in a few weeks and keep your cool forever. Easy, right?
