I’m going to shamelessly plunder this one from another source and start off by saying Purple Grain, Purple Grain.
We have a farmer in North Dakota to thank for this one, the man drawing on his resources to create a rather unique tribute to the musician.
We told you a while back about how Prince came to use a symbol as his name, which led to the name ‘The Artist Formerly Known As Prince’, so with that box ticked we’ll check this one out.
Here’s NBC with the full story:
Gene Hanson is a retired farmer in Edgeley who always liked the song “Purple Rain.” On Friday, he hopped on his tractor and plowed [sic] on a football field-size version of the late musician’s symbol into his corn field.
The 75-year-old says he found an image of the symbol on the Internet. He put it on his tractor’s dash and followed the pattern. When done, he got on his airplane to check it out. He couldn’t believe that it had turned out so well.
The tribute is only temporary. Hanson says the field was seeded Monday.
Anyone fancy having a bash with some corny farm-based puns? We won’t judge you, promise.
