If you’re a fan of English football you’re no doubt shaking your head at the fact that Leicester, 5000-1 outsiders at the beginning of the season, claimed the title last night after Spurs slipped up.
Those odds are so long that bookies reckoned it more likely Bono would become the Pope, which was listed at a mere 1000-1.
Perhaps it is his mate The Edge that is out in front though, as be became the first person to hold a concert inside the hallowed grounds of the Sistine Chapel. Here’s Rolling Stone:
…the guitarist played a short acoustic set as part of a conference on regenerative medicines. The Edge, who called the unique venue “the most beautiful parish hall in the world,” performed U2’s “Walk On,” “Yahweh” and “Ordinary Love” as well as a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “If It Be Your Will” backed by an Irish choir…
“When I was asked to perform in the Sistine Chapel I didn’t know what to say, because usually there’s ‘this other guy’ who sings,” the Edge said, referring to Bono. “So it took me at least, well, 30 seconds to agree to it.”
They’ve come a long way since they raised the ire of iPhone users all over the world by thrusting an album upon them. The last word, as is usually the case, to Bono:
“I tried to get the band here, but everyone’s doing something. I said, ‘Edge, [Nile] is such a hero to you.’ He said, ‘Listen, I just can’t get out of something.’ I said, ‘What are you doing?’ He said, ‘I’m doing a gig in the Sistine Chapel with the Holy Father.'”
