The dudes over at Temptations Lab gave themselves one task: to give cats a voice. Since forever cats have intrigued their human “owners”, what with their mixed messages, addictive purring and resting bitch face (let’s be honest, it’s an intriguing aspect of anyone).
So the Temptations team developed a collar that “translates” cats’ meow and purrs – much like those collars on those dogs in ‘Up’.
So finally, the human world can know what the cats are saying, kind of. The Catterbox contains a microphone, speaker, Bluetooth technology, and wifi. Temptations’ global brand director Pete Simmons explained the idea:
We’re fascinated by cats, so we set out on a mission to get to know them better. Through research, we learned that an adult cat’s meow is their way to communicate with humans and, by investing in this prototype device, we can start to improve understanding between them both—giving cats a voice for the very first time. At the Temptations brand, we are passionate about bringing cats and owners together. We have always done this through our treats, but we wanted to go one step further.
I guess for some cats really are a way of life. Here are a few of the translations programmed into the collars:
Watch the remaining “translations” over HERE. I wonder if there’s a meow that translates to “It’s Friday and I want to go home now.”
