If you had been in the crowd during Pink Floyd’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust of Sunday night, you might have missed their electrifying, yet subtle tribute to Prince.
An audience member recorded the moment – because, yes, it was a mere moment – that happened in the middle of the band’s performance of ‘Comfortably Numb’.
The ‘Purple Rain’ tribute involved a tasteful guitar solo by David Gilmour as the lights turned purple. There was no singing or speaking, and when he was done the transition back in to ‘Comfortably Numb’ would have one think the two were meant for each other (although it’s pretty obvious the crowd is a little confused.)
Oh, and it happens around the 4:26 mark.
