The Bruce Springsteen ‘Purple Rain’ Cover You’ve Been Waiting For [Video]

Springsteen has done a wonderful job of paying tribute to those who have fallen in the past months, and his tribute to Prince is just as honourable.

Back in 1984, Purple Rain was released as the soundtrack to the film of the same name. It went straight to number one on the American Billboard, kicking off none other than Bruce Springsteen’s Born In The USA.

Prince’s sixth studio album then went on to sit on the charts for an epic 24 weeks (August 4, 1984 to January 18, 1985), only to be succeeded by Born In The USA again.

So, yes, this is totally the tribute we have been waiting for.

Since his untimely death, tributes to the artist have taken over the likes of Coachella and every other live performance across the globe.

And they all largely excelled. At the Barclay’s Centre in Brooklyn, The Boss did not disappoint. With the lights set to a purple hue, obviously, Bruce went on to sing ‘Purple Rain’.

As the song ended, Springsteen shouted:

Prince, forever. God bless!
