Every post on Pick n Pay’s official Facebook page has been littered with outrage from customers, all stemming from an incident that happened at the Mitchell’s Plain “franchise”.
After a photograph of a lady and her little grandson went viral, people are demanding answers.
Allegedly, the two were berated by a security guard and the store’s manager when the security guard accused the little boy of breaking a chocolate. The two were still shopping, but the grandmother refused to pay for the chocolate.
They were then taken to the front of the store and shouted at in front of customers.
Pick n Pay’s reaction, however, has been a simple “we are looking into the incident”.
This incident was unacceptable, and we are very sorry for any distress caused. We are trying to identify and contact the family concerned to apologise to them. We are urgently investigating the incident with our franchisee who runs this store, to understand the circumstances and take the necessary steps to ensure it never happens again.
This is your brand, guys. I think you should take a social media lesson from the team over at Woolies.
