We’re from Cape Town, which means from time to time we like to sing our praises a little.
Then something happened recently that even us proud Capetonians didn’t expect, our city winning the prestigious Conde Naste Traveler’s Best Food City in its Reader’s Choice awards.
Don’t believe us – check HERE, that would be us taking home top spot.
Here’s the write-up the city receives:
From sipping regional rosé on Table Mountain to scarfing hake and fries at Kalky’s, there’s a breezy simplicity to Cape Town’s iconic eating experiences. To taste the Mother City’s more refined side, book a table at modern food lab the Test Kitchen—yoghurt snowballs, anyone? If you can’t get a table, the Pot Luck Club across the way at the Old Biscuit Mill serves a fairly amazing tapas-style menu that does something for every taste bud (sweet, salty, even umami).
Come on the weekend to try some of the best small bites from around the city at the Neighbourgoods Market. End the evening on the cool courtyard at the Gin Bar, where bartenders mix drinks using small-batch spirits flavored [sic] with local flora.
That’s all well and good, but let’s talk about grabbing some quality Indian food in Cape Town.
In the interest of keeping things simple we’ll turn to the 2oceansvibe directory on Connecto, which is where we keep our list of favourite things. Look at that, nice and easy.
Now if you click on that restaurant tab you’ll see we feature Bukhara, which is definitely a favourite with many in the city. You’ll find their curries have a way of warming you up to just the right temperature, imperative during the months we feel sorry for ourselves as another cold front rolls in.
Of course most of you will be using the app, why wouldn’t you? A few hashtags for search purposes:
And here’s what we are looking at:
Ah yes, Perima’s and Bihari in the ‘burbs, and a friend has recommended one too – that’ll usually do the trick.
See, that’s why you take the time to put together your directory and make use of others’ – no more wondering who that awesome painter was who you used last time. No more asking around if anyone remembers the landscaping company that trimmed your hedges. No more harassing friends to find the name of the place you ate that cracking curry.
Just use Connecto’s data of over 140 000 local businesses and create a directory of those you love, then follow the directory of trusted friends and access their recommended businesses too.
The app is FREE, so whether you’re looking for iOS (HERE) or Android (HERE) they’ve got you covered.
