Since its self-funding inception and using ads to generate revenue, Facebook has kept its profits to itself.

Now, it seems they’re looking at ways to shares these profits – or give individuals the opportunity to create an income – by introducing new offers in an effort to dominate the real-time sharing market.

In any case, new options for generating revenue seems likely to draw more sharing to Facebook. Public figures with large followings who want to promote a cause or give fans a way of contributing to a project would suddenly have a low-friction, highly visible place to do so. And that might sap some lifeblood from Twitter and Snapchat in the process.

But these assumptions are all based on a survey the company released to various “verified” users to complete. While the questions ranged from the users’ activities and habits, and what data they would like access to (like what percentage of people watch their videos and how personal posts perform compared to other people’s), it is only a suggestion of what may come to be:

So how could one make money? Well, the survey suggested various ways from a tip jar – where people can tip you money for your interesting post – to revenue sharing whereby you receive a share of revenue from those annoying ads you see as you scroll down.

But what does this all mean? How outrageous will people become to gain an income from all that time they spend on Facebook. It will be like those depressingly hilarious humblebrags crying out for likes from those sympathetic people all because 1 like = $$$.

People will probable end up embarrassing themselves even more all in the name of money – and others will make themselves mini-celebs in your circle of friends. How awful.

All I can say is this: get a lot of real friends, start doing something unique to gain traction and get ready for those dollar bills when the likes start rolling in.
