For the past nine months we have grown with Chrissy Teigen’s tummy as she prepared for the birth of her first child, conceived after years of fertility struggles.
Her Twitter and Instagram feeds have been filled with quirky insights into the realities of being pregnant, aspects all mothers can relate to.
This week, Chrissy announced the birth of her beautiful baby girl and as any mother would, she beamed with pride. She shared the first photo of her newborn, Luna, with the world.
Instead of people being happy and congratulating the new mother, all they could think about were her boobs. Here’s the picture:
Comments on the photo (mainly from the Daily Mail article on her) have accused her of “self-promotion”, posting the photo to make herself more relevant.
– This is just shameless self promotion. Nothing to do with that lovely baby (who deserves better).
– Is this picture about her new baby or her cleavage and getting herself noticed?
– A pure, innocent baby girl and a woman obsessed with showing off her ‘assets’.
Just how awful are those comments? As mothers should know, your boobs grow. That’s just a fact. A women’s body changes. Sure, they stand out, but her body, her choice.
What’s worse is that Chrissy Teigen’s social media commentary on her pregnancy has created a small fan club. After all, she has been waiting seven years for this exact moment – showing off her boobs are probably the last thing on her mind.
The reality is, mums do share these moments online. Not just Teigen but the majority of celebrity mums and even those not in the media tend to use social media to capture and post poignant moments in their lives.
So saying that Chrissy is using her baby as a prop makes you the terrible person. She’s just a mom totally in love.
