Kids Send Fluffy Dog Into Space, With This Footage To Prove It [Video]

Pupils at a school in England have seen their science project grab international headlines, their school mascot now nowhere to be found.

No need to call PETA here so just relax, that’s a fluffy TOY dog that headed out into the stratosphere.

Sam the Dog is the mascot of Morecambe Primary School, who was attached to a helium balloon on April 5 with a GPS tracker and camera for good measure. Unfortunately for the kids all has not gone according to plan as Stuff reports:

There were problems with Sam’s descent. The balloon popped and Sam’s spacecraft plummeted to earth, landing about 25 km from where he took off in Burnley.  The balloon and spacecraft have been recovered, but Sam is nowhere to be seen.

A wide radius means Sam could be anyway between Liverpool and York.  He might even have landed in the Irish sea, though the team behind the search are confident he’s somewhere inland.

Something tells me that Sam is well and truly stuffed. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
