Almost two years ago Tracy Morgan was in a horrific car crash that took the life of his best friend, James McNair. Morgan lay in a medically induced coma following the multi-car crash which involved six vehicles, including the limo-bus Morgan was in. Morgan had suffered a severe brain injury and was hanging on for life. Everyone wondered if the actor-comedian would pull through.

Morgan sat down with the queen of prying out the real shit to open up about the tragic accident and his experience and recovery. Speaking to Oprah Winfrey:

When you’re in a coma for eight to 10 days, you’re basically knocking on the door.

I don’t know if I was in the coma or in and out of the coma. But I remember… I was talking to my dad.

He had this green, this green thing on. I just remember him saying, ‘I’m not ready for you, son.’

I started crying so hard. Probably harder than I cried at his funeral. I just kept saying, ‘Dad.’ He was my best friend in life.
