Let’s say you were once married to Rupert Murdoch and managed to escape his clutches – we salute you, you’ve probably learnt that dating rich and powerful older men carries with it certain pitfalls right?

Not if you’re Wendi Deng, who is now rumoured to be dating none other than Vladimir Putin. Of course with today being THAT day we are on high alert for the garbage that’s floating around the internet right now, but the Daily Beast carries this:

…a no doubt top-level source [said] the former Mrs. Rupert Murdoch’s relationship with the Kremlin strongman is “serious,” even if she doesn’t fit the pattern of elite Russian athletes he has been linked to in the past.

“Deng has yet to be spotted looking romantic with the Russian leader, but was seen boarding her pal Roman Abramovich’s yacht in St. Bart’s on Monday, March 28,” the magazine reports. “Abramovich also happens to be friends with Putin.”

Murdoch and Deng divorced back in 2013, with Murdoch marrying Mick Jagger’s ex Jerry Hall recently. Rumours of Vlad and Wendi have been around for years now, although perhaps they’re finally ready to make it public.
