Sir Elton John is set to be involved in what could be a rather public mudslinging match, his former bodyguard suing the star for years of sexual harassment.
Bodyguard Jeffrey Wenninger isn’t pulling any punches either, outlining in detail a number of incidents that occurred during his time working for Elton. The two spent a full 12 years in close proximity, their relationship ending in September 2014.
The defence team claim the allegations are just an attempt for Wenninger to extract an ‘undeserved payment’, but he’s sticking to his guns. Here is the Telegraph with some of the claims:
In one instance, on March 27, 2014, as they were travelling in a car from the singer’s Los Angeles house to Van Nuys airport. John is said to have put his hand down his trousers “while trying to force his fingers between [the] plaintiff’s buttock cheeks and attempting to grab [his] genitals”, according to the court documents.
John…then told him to “get your todger out” and “say hello to Uncle Elton”, the documents add.
Just over two weeks later, on April 12 en route from the airport to John’s house, the singer allegedly engaged in more “unwelcome and offensive” touching by putting his hands down Menninger’s shirt and twisting his nipples.
He reportedly told the guard “you gorgeous thing, you” and tried to stick his fingers in his ear. He is also alleged to have told him: “You have so many gay genes in you. They just haven’t met up yet.”
A similar incident is reported to have happened on another trip to the airport on April 16. “This unwelcome touching….occurred on many other occasions over the course of several years,” the court documents say.
The response from a lawyer working for Elton’s record company:
“These claims are patently untrue and contradicted by numerous previous statements made by this plaintiff. We will not give into his latest abuse of the legal system,” he said
There’s no doubting that this one will play out messily – we’ll keep a close eye on it for y’all.
