Drive A VW Touareg Or Porsche Cayenne? You Might Have To Send It Back

VW are in more trouble, having to recall over 800 000 SUV models over a foot pedal issue. At least they didn't lie this time.

In September last year news hit the world that Volkswagen was lying, cheating bastard of a company. No, no, there was no infidelities involved, it just pretended that more emissions were being produced in diesel cars than the required amount. So, it ended up recalling a few hundred thousand cars.

Now, the embattled automaker has to recall approximately 800 000 more vehicles over a potential foot pedal problem, effecting around 391 000 Toureg models and more than 400 000 Porsche Cayenne models built from 2011 to 2016. However, locally, Porsche Cayenne owners have no need to stress as it was reported to only effect the European and left-hand models.

The reason is possible loosening of a retaining ring on the bearing block of the pedal system. The ring will be checked for proper installation at the service shop.

VWSA will contact owners of the 3 350 Touaregs sold locally between 2011 and 2016 for a preventative inspection of their cars at the nearest Volkswagen dealerships. The inspection which will take less than 30 minutes, will look for possible loosening of a retaining ring on the bearing block of the pedal system. The ring will be checked for proper installation.

Obviously, the repairs will be free of charge.
