Everyone loves free stuff, I think we’ve established that with some of our competitions, but when you’re raking in £300 000 a week surely you’re not all that fussed?
You’d be wrong about Wayne Rooney, because the Mirror claims this video up top shows him pocketing some VIP goodies from a Nike hospitality box at Wembley Stadium back in 2014.
There is no commentary on that video so here’s what you’re looking at:
…Rooney and his friends stayed on for more than an hour in the corporate box. The star is seen with his friends seemingly deciding which items to take. He walks back and forth, picks up footwear and framed memorabilia and puts it down again.
At one point he has a collection of items on a table and gathers them together. When a pal goes to a waste bin to get the rubbish bag excited Rooney dashes over, grabs it and empties it.
He returns to the table, shakes the bag open as if he were at a supermarket checkout and starts to fill it up. Rooney then goes back to the display cabinet and spots a red retro-style phone on display.
He grabs it too and pretends to make a call. At one point, one of his chums appears to be blocking the door to the suite.
Rooney is finally seen carrying the bag out of the room as he and his pals leave. It is not known what happened to the items…
Not realising he had been caught on film, a spokesman for Rooney denied he had taken anything and said: “There is no truth whatsoever in the anonymous claims which the Sunday Mirror has put to us. They are false and defamatory of Wayne Rooney.”
He added: “Wayne Rooney took no items whatsoever from the Nike box.”
