I sometimes wish there was a greater backlash for people who insist on posting every detail of their jog on Facebook. Cool that you did five kilometres today, do you need to make the rest of us feel bad or you just want a pat on the back?
Well it was a different kind of backlash for founder Mark Zuckerberg, his run through Beijing leading to some chirps on the ‘Book. Here’s Mark’s post first:
You’ll see Zuck was running sans face mask, which when you consider the amount of pollution found in Beijing’s air was deemed reckless by some.
Cue the hypothesising with this below from Huffington Post:
Chinese residents wondered aloud whether Zuckerberg’s jog was a gesture aimed at pleasing the authorities who claim they are gradually winning the battle against air pollution. … “Kissing up?” commented Tom Wang, a Chinese environmentalist, who reposted Zuckerberg’s running photo and added a graphic of Beijing’s air quality readings from Friday morning.
As of yet he has not convinced Chinese government officials to unblock Facebook – perhaps a swim through their sewer system or a cycle through a poverty stricken village may do the trick.
