After the EFF coined the term “Zupta” during SONA back in February, the name has come to symbolise the ongoing mess that South Africa now has to clean up. But what started out as a mere chance has now turned into an anthem to the tune of South African House.
Released yesterday, the track already has around 40 000 views and will probably climb with ease over the weekend as people start partying.
The song is about Zuma and the Gupta family whose corrupt relationship has compromised democracy and its institutions. Is uses EFF’s protest in Parliament during the state of the nation address where the CIC Julius Malema used the acronym “Zupta” to speak about Zuma and Gupta combined to fall. It aims to raise awareness, critique and mobilize all people to speak in one voice in the demand that #ZuptaMustFall.
