Just the other day the office was chatting about the exorbitant cost of buying and maintaining a yacht, perhaps during one of our lottery ticket purchase binges.

Anyway spare a thought for the owner of this superyacht, filmed going up in flames in the Charlotte Amalie harbour in St. Thomas. Check another angle below:

It took several hours for firefighters to extinguish the blaze, which sent massive clouds of black smoke billowing high above. Positive Energy was towed to a more secure location as efforts continued to tame the flames…

It was not yet known what caused the fire on the yacht, which Boat International magazine reported was built by Taiwan’s Monte Fino yard in 2004.

It accommodated up to seven guests in three large staterooms and featured a “country kitchen” galley, entertainment space, marble bar, three-piece sofa and a cocktail table.
