The Details Of 1 736 ISIS Fighters Have Just Been Leaked

A hoard of ISIS documents have been released, detailing over 1 000 members of the group who joined at the end of 2013.

Data of around 1736 ISIS fighters from around the world has been obtained by Sky News, when a memory stick was stolen from the head of ISIS internal security police by a former freedom fighter.

Zaman Al Wasl – an independent Syrian digital news site – released all the documents which you can check HERE. However, before you go anywhere, just note that it’s all written in Arabic but various news sites were kind enough to break down the information for us.

The documents – assumed to be collected at the border between November and December 2013 – included information on ISIS fighters hailing from around 40 countries, along with their backgrounds, nationalities and hometown addresses.

The documents are now shedding light into the inner circle of the de facto states which has its own institutions and official documents, as well as a data bank.

Here is what was found:

  • Two thirds of ISIS members are from Saudi Arabia (25%), Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt.
  • Turkish fighters take the lead among ISIS foreign fighters (not Arab countries) and French fighters come next:
“Most of the European extremists listed were from France, followed by Germany and the UK. Four were said to be from the US and six from Canada.”
  • Syrians only make up 1.7% and Iraqis 1.2%.
  • No ones knows the true identities of their fellow fighters as they use code names for security reasons. They follow high ranks of secrecy.
  • Each document contains 23 entry fields, starting with the first name to acknowledging why they want to become a ISIS fighter or suicide bomber.
