There’s a smug satisfaction that comes with starting your Friday off on the right foot, your day up and running before you’ve smashed that cup of coffee and become a functioning member of society once more.
Now for some it’s all about klapping an early morning gym sesh with the boys, but it’s obvious that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. That’s why we’ve been joining up with the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN for our pre-weekend kicks, smashing a quick 5km through the Mother City streets and earning that first post-work dop.
Labelled the #turqarmy there are two different Friday morning scuttles you can join, one in the city and a second in Stellenbosch. Some important details before we get onto the specifics of each:
I think we’re onto something here. Both runs will start at 6:30AM, the Cape Town race setting off from in front of the Hard Pressed Café on Bree Street and the Stellies run from outside the FNB Branch, Andringa Street.
The 5km run is along a flat route, so no excuses, and if you find yourself a fan you should note that the races will occur EVERY Friday. There will be lucky draw prizes on the first Friday of each month for runners to win, plus a few surprises chucked in along the way to keep you coming back for more.
The Cape Town route runs right through the winter and the Stellies one runs until Friday April 29, which is plenty of time to get into the swing of things and be that annoyingly upbeat person in the office.
Just think about how tasty it will be when that first ale touches your lips on Friday afternoon – have another, you’ve earned it.
Also be sure to check out our 2OV Ct12 competition page, where we will give away TWO prizes valued at R30 000 each.
