Some things will never get old – and no Madonna, we’re not talking about you.
Rickrolling has been a thing for almost 10 years now, with the latest pranksters to hop on board using a rather ingenious technique. Members of the public receiving parking tickets on North Carolina have been told to be on the lookout, a QR scanning code redirecting them to Rick Astley classic “Never Gonna Give You Up”.
Here’s the Huffington Post:
Asheville’s Parking Services posted alerts to their website and Facebook page on Friday after at least two bogus tickets had popped up on cars.
“It was kind of surprising to go to a link for a YouTube video, and then when I went, it was featuring some rock star that I didn’t know,” Parking Services Manager Harry Brown [said]…
Not everyone seems to find it entertaining, however.
One person visiting Asheville from Atlanta told WLOS the ticketing joke was “atrocious”: “We got past the ’80s, I thought. That’s pretty bad. It’s a waste of time.”
Sheesh, vibe kill coming out of Atlanta. Go on, give that QR code below a scan…
Well played pranksters – if you feel like getting under the skin of a few Capetonians we’ll happily distribute a few for you.
