Although no reason has been provided, the ANC’s Chief Whip has resigned after a special caucus meeting of its Members of Parliament this afternoon. Stone Sizani, Chief Whip since 2013, has recently been at the forefront of the party to defend Jacob Zuma during the recent confidence motions which were sparked by JZ’s admission in the ConCourt to repay some of the money spent by the government on his home in Nkandla.
In an off-the-record comment, an ANC MP said he would be heading to Germany to act as an as an ambassador.
Doris Dlakude has been appointed as acting chief whip.
I feel like the ANC just uses random redeployments as a way out of outrightly firing someone from the party, and instead keeping their support with softly spoken, like, “We love you, but you’re image is really bad for us right now. We will bring you back at a later stage. Kisses.”
