Fascinating Images Show Mummified Sailor As He Died In Stranded Yacht

Dry ocean winds, hot temperatures and salty air helped preserve the body of a sailor who presumably died of a heart-attack.

A German adventurer’s body was found on his yacht just off the coast of the Philippines. It is believed that Manfred Fritz Bajorat, 59, whose body was discovered by two fishermen, wrote a memoir to his beloved wife Claudia who died from cancer in 2012:

Thirty years we’re been together on the same path. Then the power of the demons was stronger than the will to live. You’re gone. May your soul find its peace. Your Manfred.

Having captained a 40-foot long yacht named SAYO for 20 years, Manfred’s body was found sitting near to the radio telephone as if he was trying one last desperate Mayday call to save himself when he died.

Much of the cabin was underwater. Although there is no foul play expected, authorities are unsure how long Manfred’s body has been at sea nor what was the cause of death. He was last heard from over a year ago by a friend on his birthday.
